Description:   Opened: 2006-03-07 09:05 0000
I tried to emerge media-sound/banshee-0.10.7, but the compile failed because
the ./configure run couldn't find the cdparanoia-Gstreamer-plugin. The plugin
was pulled in as an dependency by banshee and it seems to be installed
correctly.

daenerys banshee-0.10.7 # emerge -s gst-plugins-cdparanoia

what version of banshee are you using the 0.10.7 or 0.10.7_p1 ?

if you are using 0.10.7 you need to install gst-plugins-cdparanoia-0.8 and not
0.10

I'm using banshee 0.10-7.
So I uninstalled gst-plugins-cdparanoia-0.10.3 and then tried to install
banshee:
daenerys ~ # emerge -C gst-plugins-cdparanoia

 media-plugins/gst-plugins-cdparanoia
    selected: 0.10.3
   protected: none
     omitted: none

>>> 'Selected' packages are slated for removal.
>>> 'Protected' and 'omitted' packages will not be removed.

>>> Unmerging media-plugins/gst-plugins-cdparanoia-0.10.3...

<<< obj /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstcdparanoia.so
<<< obj /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstcdparanoia.la
<<< obj /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstcdparanoia.a
<<< dir /usr/share/doc/gst-plugins-cdparanoia-0.10.3
--- !empty dir /usr/share/doc
--- !empty dir /usr/share
--- !empty dir /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10
--- !empty dir /usr/lib
--- !empty dir /usr
>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...

 * GNU info directory index is up-to-date.

daenerys ~ # emerge -pv banshee

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild N ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-cdparanoia-0.10.3 0 kB
[ebuild N ] media-sound/banshee-0.10.7 USE="-aac -daap -debug doc flac
-ipod mad -njb real vorbis" 0 kB

Total size of downloads: 0 kB

Strange, banshee wants again to pull gst-plugins-cdparanoia-0.10.3 in as an
dependency.

So I did an "emerge =media-sound/gst-plugins-cdparanoia-0.8.12" and after that,
banshee compiled cleanly.

At least it works now. Thanks.

ok i forced the use of gst 0.8 to avoid that problem it should be fixed now on
cvs. Thanks for the heads up.
