Hi, first of all I am not quiet sure if this bug is addressed to core-system. I installed a fresh new gentoo (stable) i686 on an external usb-2.0 harddisk. After running genkernel initrd, I rebooted and found out that the scandelay= parameter was ignored. scsi, usb, usb_storage was loaded, but the real_root could not be loaded so the boot process stoped on boot():: After typing shell and running udevstart, I entered the real_root again and everything was okay. So I looked at the scripts and found (maybe) a bug: In file /usr/share/genkernel/generic/linuxrc line 287: sdelay should be placed before start_dev_mgr() line 235. I tested it and with this change, everything is okay now. Regards Christian
This should be fixed in 3.3.11c, which is now in portage.
