Description Evildad 2006-02-25 09:13:37 UTC
Joomla! 1.0.8 will be released late Saturday February 25, 2006.

1.0.8 represents a Security Release. It contains:

    * 13 `Medium Level` Threat fixes
    * 23 `Low Level` Threat fixes
    * 70+ non-critical general bug fixes
    * Several Query performance improvements

None of the Security Threats are rated as critical, however all Joomla! users are strongly urged to upgrade to this version, when it is released.

One of the big improvements has been in query performance. The changes can lead to as much as a 30-50% reduction in the number of queries required to generate a page, leading to performance improvements.

There has also been a major overhaul of session management, some information about the changes can be read aboutin the Official Developer Blogs. Note these changes WILL affect 3rd Party bridging addons.

** If you are still running Joomla! 1.0.3 or below, you MUST upgrade to at least Joomla! 1.0.4, due to a Critical Security Threat in 1.0.3 and below. But I would strongly urge you go all the way and upgrade to 1.0.8 **

1.0.8 will be available as a Patch Upgrade package, with only affected files or as a Full Distribution package.

More information about what exactly has been fixed in 1.0.8 will be available when 1.0.8 is released

thx for the headsup, package is still ~arch and we run 1.0.7, so we shouldnt be affected by the critical bug, CC'ing web-apps anyways.
