Ok, so we have 2.4.0 out. Works pretty stable for me. (~x86)

What's new?
ffmpeg support (for AAC, WMA and other audio formats, tested with
ffmpeg-0.4.9_p20051216, the only limitation was that seeking didn't work)
optional UTF-8 console support
librcc/librcd support to guess ID3 tag encoding (not tested, not present in
Portage?)

Also when making the ebuild, see bug #121687

There is also a patch available
