After unmerging qscintilla and qyqt, I was able to su emerge eric. The problem above still remains though. The emerge of eric should have failed.

Ok, finally fixed. The main problem is that eric3 needs qscintilla but this wasn't in DEPEND/RDEPEND. Fixed. The second problem was that we didn't pick up when install failed, which is fixed as well (hopefully). Thanks for reporting!
