Changes: install the .group file instead of using pam_console. use plugdev group instead of default camera group in the .group file. added message about adding yourself to plugdev group. References: bug #84628 package: target keywords libgphoto2-2.1.6-r1: alpha, amd64, ia64, ppc, ppc64, sparc, x86
amd64 stable
stable on ppc64 @Luis (metalgod): You forgot to change the keyword from ~amd64 to amd64! So now there is an changelog entry which sais it is stable on amd64, but it isn't. ;-)
Thanks Markus it's fixed now.
x86 done.
sparc stable.
I added myself to the plugdev group and I still can't access the camera. Currently I am in the following groups: tty wheel audio cdrom video games cdrw usb users portage and the camera node has the following permissions: -rw-rw---- 1 root plugdev Despite that I still get the following error: An error occurred in the io-library ('Bad parameters'): Could not find USB device (vendor 0x4a9, product 0x30b9). Make sure this device is connected to the computer.
please open a new bug if you are having issues. if you just added yourself in X, you'll have to logout and login. If you don't want to logout/login, you could sudo su <your-user>. if you type id after doing this, you should see your user is now in the plugdev group. then you could launch gtkam or use gphoto2 from the command line and it should work fine.
ppc stable
