Description tim 2005-12-11 05:09:23 UTC
python-mode-1.0 has been released a few days ago, although i don't really
understand the version-number missmatch between gentoo and upstream, the last
python-mode in gentoo uses upstream release no. 1.0alpha

it would be great to see it in portage

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

I added python-mode-1.0 to portage. Now, since upstream changed from 4.x versions to 1.0 versions, the result is a bit confusing.

You'll have to emerge =app-emacs/python-mode-1.0* to get it.

What I'm going to do next is get the arch tester people to stablize the app-emacs/python-mode-1.0 ebuild so that I can remove the older app-emacs/python-mode-4* ebuilds.

The ebuild for python-mode-1.0 has much better site file support so that more things are moved to autoloads to improve startup times.

Note to arch testers for x86, ppc-macos, amd64 and ppc:

Upstream for this port went through a confusing version scheme change. The most recent version is 1.0, while previous version are 4.x (based on CVS revisions probably).

We want to remove all the app-emacs/python-mode-4.x ebuilds and stablize the app-emacs/python-mode-1.0 ebuild.

Please test the python-mode-1.0 ebuild and add stable keywords to it. There are no outstanding bugs on python-mode. The only direct dependency python-mode has is app-emacs/pymacs which is ready stable EXCEPT FOR ppc-macos. So if you're ppc-macos, please stablize app-emacs/pymacs as well.

amd64 stable
Comment 4 Mark Loeser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-21 17:42:22 UTC
x86 done
Comment 5 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-24 18:13:50 UTC
Marked ppc stable.
Comment 6 Christian Schlotter 2006-06-16 06:10:35 UTC
@ppc-macos: Please see comment #2.
Comment 7 Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2006-06-16 10:37:21 UTC
ppc-macos isn't really blocking, as all is ~ppc-macos. Not marking because dependencies aren't stable.
Comment 8 Matthew Kennedy (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-14 12:27:54 UTC
ppc-macos, please stablize app-emacs/pymacs and then stablize app-emacs/python-mode-1.0 (note the "ONE POINT ZERO")
Comment 9 Tobias Scherbaum (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-19 11:46:20 UTC
Remove ppc, you probably wanted ppc-macos@g.o?
Comment 10 Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2006-08-19 12:00:32 UTC
We really don't block you, all ~ppc-macos:

% grep ppc-macos *.ebuild
pymacs-0.22-r1.ebuild:KEYWORDS="~x86 ~ppc-macos ~amd64 ~ppc"
pymacs-0.22.ebuild:KEYWORDS="x86 ~ppc-macos amd64 ppc"

% grep ppc-macos *.ebuild
python-mode-1.0.ebuild:KEYWORDS="amd64 ppc ~ppc-macos x86"
python-mode-4.63-r1.ebuild:KEYWORDS="x86 ~ppc-macos amd64 ppc"
python-mode-4.70.ebuild:KEYWORDS="~x86 ~ppc-macos ~amd64 ~ppc"

But to make you happy, I stabled both (yes also the ZERO DOT ONE)
Comment 11 Matthew Kennedy (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-21 08:46:26 UTC
Now we have the latest version in portage.
