attached is an ebuild for cfitsio 
 
CFITSIO is a library of C and Fortran subroutines for reading and writing data  
files in FITS (Flexible Image Transport System) data format. 
 
i suggest that it be included under dev-libs

ebuild script for the latest release of cfitsio


Ebuild for latest release of cfitsio(2.460)
It will install *.h, 
test programs, complete manual in ps and tex
into gentoo.

This ebuild will install latest cfitsio into gentoo.
It will also install demos, manuals in ps and etc, but 
the old script won't.
