I noticed this while reviewing the state of Debian's latest tree in the testing branch. A full discussion can be found here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=334113 Two patches have been merged in order to rectify the issue: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=0b360adbdb54d5b98b78d57ba091 6bc4b8871968 http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=e3f17f0f6e98f58edb13cb38810d 93e6d4808e68 I shall attach both of them to this bug. Assuming that there is no obvious reason against, I would like to see this go into genpatches-base as soon as reasonably possible and for *-sources ebuilds to follow suit accordingly.
Created an attachment (id=73916) [edit] setkeys-needs-root-1.patch Commit 0b360adbdb54d5b98b78d57ba0916bc4b8871968 from upstream (this instance is taken from Debian)
Created an attachment (id=73917) [edit] etkeys-needs-root-1.patch Commit e3f17f0f6e98f58edb13cb38810d93e6d4808e68 from upstream (ditto).
For the benefit of interested readers, this is fixed in gentoo-sources-2.6.14-r4 already (on account of genpatches-base-2.6.14-5).
