I'm having a problem with transcode 1.0.x (1.0.1 and 1.0.2). When I run it, I get the following error message: *** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (!prev): 0x08061060 *** Command that I ran: $ transcode -H 10 -o snapshot -y ppm,null -x vob,null -i /data/Kingdom/vob/001 -c 4-5 -L 1727299 Here's the complete output: transcode v1.0.2 (C) 2001-2003 Thomas Oestreich, 2003-2004 T. (In reply to comment #1) > You neglected to post emerge --info output as instructed to when filing the bug. Oh, yes, you're right. Sorry about that... I now compiled transode with LDFLAGS='', and it still crashes.
Works, when built with the following USE flags: -dvdread -ffmpeg -jpeg -mp3 -mpeg -ogg -sdl -sse -sse2 -theora -vorbis -xvid -ffmpeg -jpeg -mp3 -mpeg -ogg -sdl -sse -sse2 -theora -vorbis -xvid -jpeg -mp3 -mpeg -ogg -sdl -sse -sse2 -theora -vorbis -xvid -mp3 -mpeg -ogg -sdl -sse -sse2 -theora -vorbis -xvid -mpeg -ogg -sdl -sse -sse2 -theora -vorbis -xvid -ogg -sdl -sse -sse2 -theora -vorbis -xvid -sdl -sse -sse2 -theora -vorbis -xvid -sse -sse2 -theora -vorbis -xvid -sse2 -theora -vorbis -xvid -theora -vorbis -xvid -vorbis -xvid -xvid And also with no "-USE-Flag".... Oh, how I had that... :( Why is it now all of a sudden working? I now build it like that: [ebuild R ] media-video/transcode-1.0.2 -3dnow -X -a52 (-altivec) -dv +dvdread -fame +ffmpeg -gtk -imagemagick -jpeg -lzo -mjpeg +mmx +mp3 +mpeg -network +ogg -pvm -quicktime +sdl +sse +sse2 +theora -truetype -v4l +vorbis -xml2 +xvid 0 kB And that *$!?* is working? Well, for whatever reason, I can no longer reproduce that bug. I don't get it... Closing bug.
Reopening. But I now found something.... What I found is, that I was too clever for my own good. I ran the command as shown above - *BUT* in reality, "Kingdom" in /data is a symlink to some place else. And in dvd::rip, that "some place else" is used. That "some place else" is actually a rather long path, which is why I shortened it for the bug report. alexander@blatt ~ $ ls -la /data/King* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 69 19. Can you try to report this upstream? Transcode is a quite complex package, and the less I have to tinker with it, the more happy I am usually ^^;
Created attachment 74308 [details, diff] Patch making tc 1.0.2 not die anymore Hi. Oh sorry, I should have updated this bug... I reported this issue upstream and somebody wrote a patch (actually, a backport from CVS HEAD to 1.0.x). You can find it originally at http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.transcode.user/18446 or in the attached file. I'm using the attached patch, and everything is fine for me :)
Thanks, I'll give that a try and commit it later today.
Fixed in 1.0.2-r1.
