Christopher, thanks for the contribution. A few pointers though:
* In the future, please make sure to upload ebuilds as plain text.
* If you include patches, please explain what their purpose is.
* If there aren't significant changes from a previous version (3.1 in this
case), it's better to attach a diff against the previous version, rather than
attach the ebuild.
* Any stable keywords should be dropped to testing.
* Not sure if you noticed, but pmd is in portage under dev-util :)

1. Yeah, should have been plain text.  Whoops.
2. Patch is self-explanatory. :)
3. It's not much different from the original 3.1 ebuild that I posted, but it's 
very different fro mthe mutilated 3.1 that is up there.
4. Oops.
5. PMD only scans java files.  It should be dev-java.
