in printing-howto.xml you write: --- HPLIP Driver The HPLIP Project embraces the hpijs driver and includes scanner support and service tools for various multi-purpose peripherals. For printing support, you must have the ppds USE flag enabled. Code Listing 5.2: Installing the hplip drivers # emerge hplip When the emerge process has finished, the printer drivers will be available through the CUPS web interface. --- when I try that, I must first unmask it because it is masked ~x86, maybe you should point it out to the user. then when I pretend to merge it, I see an usb USE flag, I assume this is for usb printers, but it's default not set here so did I miss something or does every user have to add it?
or we could just have hplip moved into stable
What version should we be looking to mark stable?
(In reply to comment #2) > What version should we be looking to mark stable? net-print/hplip-0.9.4 works on ppc without problems (since months...), but net-print/hplip-0.9.5 gives errors. See bug #107398.
i think lu_zero as fixed ppc bug... but this package can't go to stable because it have a few bugs open. I was updating this package for a while but i can't really maintain it because i don't use it. So it would be great if anyone steps up to maintain it better than me.
wouldn't it be better to "fix" docs then? i'll remove amd64 for now, please re-add us when these bugs are fixed and a new maintainer is found
To be honest, I couldn't reproduce any of the problems with my printer. I'm using hplip-0.9.5 with a HP PSC 1315 and all is fine and dandy.
Is there anyone maintaining this package to fix the bugs so we can mark this stable? If not, we should close this until someone steps up to do so.
When all open bugs for this have been resolved and its ready to go stable, please readd us to CC.
There are still hplip bugs pending, please remind us in the future to mark it stable.
I made hplip-0.9.7-r3 stable on ppc. Builds fine and works without problems.
Marked x86 stable.
