The last few days I have been having problems with this bug detailed in this message board thread: http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/linux/kernel/583359?page=last A patch to the linux kernel is available there: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5505 I am testing if it really works, but it takes a few hours before it fails again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Run a moderately busy bind server with a 2.6.14 kernel, stock or gentoo-sources. Actual Results: Server stops receiving request on port 53/udp of the used affected ip. Expected Results: Answer to dns queries. exerpt from syslog: Nov 8 04:28:32 hammer named[11721]: errno2result.c:109: unexpected error: Nov 8 04:28:32 hammer named[11721]: unable to convert errno to isc_result: 14: Bad address Nov 8 04:28:32 hammer named[11721]: UDP client handler shutting down due to fatal receive error: unexpected error
The bind server that had this issue is now running stable for a whole day. This is more then twice the time that was happenning before. The patch applied cleanly to gentoo-sources.
Forgot to close. This was fixed in 2.6.14-r1
