I've upgraded to viewCVS 1.0_pre20050929 sometime ago and somebody just noticed
that the "download tarball" link is shown, even if "allow_tar = 0" is in the
config file.

Do you have that option in the [options] section? I have it disabled on one of
my setups and it seems to be working. Just double checking :-)
