Description Erik Månsson 2005-10-31 02:10:23 UTC
The GNOME Calculator gives wrong results when expression involves the natural
base-e.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start GNOME Calculator (gcalctool)
2. Switch to scientific mode
3. Verify modes: degrees, dec, fix
3. Press CE (to avoid paranthesis)
4. Press "e^x", 1, enter

Actual Results:
The calculator displays 14 in the main window

Expected Results:
The correct result should be the value of "e", i.e. 2.718281828

Using version 5.5.42-r2 of Gcalctool

Works for me in 5.6.31, could you try upgrading? You might need to do
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~(yourarch)" emerge =gcalctool-5.6.31.
Comment 2 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-01 09:01:57 UTC
i can reproduce this on 5.5.42-r2.

we might want to push 5.6 to stable since its time now anyways.

Error confirmed on ~AMD64 w/ 5.5.42-r1 & 5.5.42-r2
Comment 4 Tres 'RiverRat' Melton 2005-11-09 21:16:07 UTC
This error is not present with gnome-extra/gcalctool-5.6.31 on AMD64 either.
There are no USE flags to test but I ran through most of the functions and
everything seems to be ok.

Clicking degrees/gradians/radians doesn't immediately change the value in the
display (as I think it shoud) but that seems to be by design as it is the same
for the older versions.

Perhaps this should get marked 'resolved upstream'.
All three versions (5.5.42-r1/5.5.42-r2/5.6.31) appear stable on AMD64 to me. :)
Comment 5 Tres 'RiverRat' Melton 2005-11-09 21:30:15 UTC
All three versions (5.5.42-r1/5.5.42-r2/5.6.31) appear stable on AMD64 to me. :)

Should have been: All three versions install and run fine with no 64bit issues
and work for everything except this issue. 5.6.31 works in everyway that I
could see.

I also changed the platform to all.

This is stable on half the arches. Just converting the bug to a stable request to resolve this issue. CC'ing remaining arches.

Droppinng the older builds. 5.6.31 is stable in the tree (MIPS dropped from stable as per MIPS' request).
