Description Krzysztof Pawlik (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-26 02:25:42 UTC
After upgrade to recent baselayout I've started to get error message about
/dev/hda4 being already mounted or /home busy. Additionally /dev/shm is mounted
twice.

/etc/fstab:
# <fs> <mountpoint> <type> <opts>
<dump/pass>
/dev/hda1 / reiserfs noatime 0 1
/dev/hda2 none swap sw
0 0
/dev/hda3 /mnt/windows vfat noauto,dmask=0000,fmask=0111,user
0 0
/dev/hda4 /home reiserfs noatime
0 2

/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto noauto,ro,dmask=0000,fmask=0111,user 0 0

/dev/sda1 /mnt/usb1 vfat noauto,dmask=0000,fmask=0111,user
0 0
/dev/sda2 /mnt/usb2 vfat noauto,dmask=0000,fmask=0111,user
0 0

proc /proc proc defaults
0 0
shm /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noexec 0 0

Output of `mount | sort`:
nelchael@nelchael ~$ mount | sort
/dev/hda1 on / type reiserfs (rw,noatime)
/dev/hda4 on /home type reiserfs (rw,noatime)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw)
proc on /proc type proc (rw)
shm on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
shm on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw)
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw,nosuid)
usbfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw,devmode=0664,devgid=85)
nelchael@nelchael ~$

Screenshot of console with error message will follow as attachement.

is your /dev/shm actually mounted twice ? look at /proc/mounts rather
than /etc/mtab

you also didnt post `emerge info` like you were supposed to so we dont
know what version of baselayout/util-linux you're using

I've modified localmount:

    ebegin "Mounting local filesystems"
    #mount -at noproc,noshm,no${NET_FS_LIST// /,no} >/dev/null
    mount
    mount -v -at noproc,noshm,no${NET_FS_LIST// /,no}
    mount
eend $? "Some local filesystem failed to mount"

Attached is output of bootup with such localmount

After upgrade from 2.6.13-ck8 to 2.6.14-ck1 problem is gone. It seems to be
somehow kernel related (same config, nothing changed except TCPDIAG).
