Description:   Opened: 2005-10-14 13:26 0000
it's actually keyworded "~x86 ~amd64 ~sparc ~ia64 ~ppc ~ppc64" and unmasked
from
more than 30 days.

Personally I've tested it on ~x86 & ~amd64, but would be nice re-test it also
on
these platforms.

Done that it's the moment to keyword it stable.

MySQL 5.0 will be unmasked when 4.1 is stable.

Thanks in advance.

   dev-db/mysql/mysql-4.1.13-r1.ebuild: x86(default-linux/x86/2005.0)
['>=dev-perl/DBD-mysql-2.9004']

Also, I don't know how well the mysql functions (as compared with the mysqli
functions) in PHP work with mysql-4.1. Perhaps it might be good to wait until
we can stablize both a php that has the mysqli flag and this at the same time?
If this is a non-issue, then ignore me :)

Ouch, this need to be stabilized too.
The latest version is DBD-mysql-3.0002_3 , also need to add this one, Changelog
show interesting improvements.

ARCH teams please consider to stabilize dev-perl/DBD-mysql-2.9007 too.

The mayor part of PHP applications work with the "mysql" extension, only few of
them use "mysqli" .

It would be nice to stabilize that togheter but it's not a requirement, (it
work) and also stabilize MySQL-4.1 now is preferable to have the possibility to
work with MySQL-5.0 . This because I'm not brave enough to unmask it until 4.1
has only unstable versions.

I've run this for >30 days with several php sites, including raw SQL access and
dumps. No issues. I'd mark stable for amd64.

using several PHP apps as well as stuff I have written with no issues. Marked
stable on amd64.

------- Comment #8 From Andy Dustman 2005-10-19 10:26:45 0000 -------
MySQL AB recently reorganized their online documentation so that they have
seperate versions. The current 4.1.14 ebuild prints out this link if it detects
an existing 4.0 installation:

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/upgrading-from-4-0.html

However, this now redirects to this page:

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/4.1/en/upgrading-from-4-0.html

which does not work (404). The correct page is now:

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/4.1/en/upgrading-from-4-0.html

tested on ppc right now seems working fine I'll test it a bit for a day and
then
I'd mark it stable on ppc

------- Comment #10 From Francesco R. (RETIRED) 2005-10-20 01:51:32 0000 -------
Going through step 2 now, unmasking MySQL 5.0 .

As a security measure ARCHs that does not have a stable 4.1 have been
removed from keywords.

Feel free to readd those when stabilizing 4.1 , or simply wait that I recognize
you did it ;)

to Comment #8 Links fixed, thanks

Best regards,
Francesco Riosa

I followed the upgrade guide http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/mysql-upgrading.xml
and upgraded to 4.1.14 from 4.0.25-r2 on my alpha box without a problem. The
emerge went smoothly and after revdep-rebuild all of my applications worked.
mod_php works fine (tested with the following webapps: punbb, plog, custom blog
software). The mysql console works. I was able to restore mysqldump'd data. I
also tested it with the pokerd game server without any problems. Maybe the
~alpha keyword should be added?

Thanks to everyone, I've readded to 5.0.17 & 5.0.18, as unstable, all archs
that has a stable 4.1

looking forward to stabilization of mysql-5.0 now, first candidate will be
5.0.18 , but this is another bug.

------- Comment #17 From Joshua Kinard 2006-02-19 21:52:30 0000 -------
Unable to stable 4.1.x since it never got the ~mips keyword. I've added ~mips
to 4.1.18-r30, so CC us when it comes time for that to be stabilized.
