Description:   Opened: 2005-10-03 09:07 0000
The /etc/exports file defines what filesystems you want nfs to share. It's
pretty much the central config file for an nfs server. Yet the nfsd(8) man page
doesn't even mention its existence. If you just installed nfs for the first time
and want to share something, the natural man page to look up doesn't tell you
anything at all that's useful.

Oddly enough, the nfs(8) man page, which deals only with the nfs client, does
list exports(5) in the "see also" section. At the very least nfsd(8) should list
that file there as well. In my opinion, it would ideally also have a sentence in
the body of the man page that says "The filesystems to be exported are defined
in /etc/exports; see exports(5)."

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

FYI, docs-team has nothing to do with man pages

------- Comment #2 From SpanKY 2005-10-08 13:34:02 0000 -------
fixed in nfs-utils-1.0.7-r2
