PyGTK 2.8.0 should up the version of pycairo to 0.9.3 to avoid crashes in Gnome
Panel 2.12.0 as per this thread:

The ebuild lists pycairo 0.5.0 which causes problems with Gnome Panel 2.12.0

It should be >=pycairo-0.9.0 and not 0.9.3. Sorry, my bad.
