Description James Cloos 2005-09-26 13:59:45 UTC
Auctex 11.81 is out. This covers both app-emacs/auctex and app-xemacs/auc-tex.

This version now includes preview-latex, so the new ebuilds should DEPEND (or
RDEPEND?) on !dev-tex/preview-latex.

In the args to econf you can use --with-emacs in app-emacs/auctex and
--with-xemacs in app-xemacs/auctex. This should eliminate the need for the
patch used in the 11.54 and 11.55 app-emacs ebuilds. It should also eliminate
the need for the hack added for bug 72637.

To allow the user to select whether to include the preview-latex support, I'd
suggest the use flag 'preview', since $(use_enable preview) will then work.

OTOH, since auctex's default is --enable-preview, perhaps a nopreview flag is
better? Ie $(use_enable !nopreview preview).

so what exactly /do/ you call disgraphia that only shows up at the keyboard???

I can inform that this ebuild works just fine on ppc-macos, so please add ~ppc-macos keyword to the
ebuild.
Comment 8 Sebastian Schubert 2005-11-16 09:33:29 UTC
Works except texhash has no writing permission so previewlatex doesn't work:
From compiling log:

/usr/bin/texhash
texhash: /usr/local/share/texmf/ls-R: no write permission. Skipping...
texhash: /usr/share/texmf/ls-R: no write permission. Skipping...
texhash: /var/cache/fonts/ls-R: no write permission. Skipping...
texhash: /var/lib/texmf/ls-R: no write permission. Skipping...
texhash: Done.

Directly after emerging everything works fine:

satux ~ # texhash
texhash: Updating /usr/local/share/texmf/ls-R...
texhash: Updating /usr/share/texmf/ls-R...
texhash: Updating /var/cache/fonts/ls-R...
texhash: Updating /var/lib/texmf/ls-R...
texhash: Done.

Now, previewlatex works.

Auctex 11.82 is released.
Comment 10 Mamoru KOMACHI (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-20 00:56:02 UTC
Sorry for the delay. I've commited auctex-11.81 (cannot find 11.82 on
any site) with preview-latex USE flag. We must avoid no* USe flag
as much as possible, and in this case if you enable it by default
it may not compile on someone's environment (from comment #6).
I'll fix texhash issue when I have some more time.
James, XEmacs packages are not maintained by emacs herd, so please
open another bug (and assign it to xemacs@g.o) if you need XEmacs version.

Thanks everyone.
Comment 11 Christian Schlotter 2005-12-20 01:41:25 UTC
You can find 11.82 here:
http://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/auctex/auctex-11.82.tar.gz
Comment 12 Fred Krogh 2005-12-22 15:01:48 UTC
When I try this and load a latex file, I get
File mode specification error: (void-variable AuCTeX-version)
I've seen a comment on this here:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/help-gnu-emacs/2005-10/msg00158.html
where it is claimed to be fixed.

I changed from teTeX provided by Gentoo to the TeXLive distribution, so I had to reemerge AUCTeX. Problem is, it cannot find LaTeX. An manual run in the work directory with the same options for configure runs through without problems, so I suppose there is an permissions problem. Can anyone help?
