I've found a patch on the openal-mailinglist that solves problems concerning 
openal and alsa's dmix plugin. 
I recognised in several games that use openal theres no sound output, when 
having openal configured to use alsa's dmix plugin. The device get's regularly 
opened but there's no output at all. 
 
The mentioned patch solves exactly that problem. After applying it to the 
openal-sources sound works fine again.
