Can someone attach a full build log please.
(In reply to comment #4) > Can someone attach a full build log please. Well, now it compiles well, whether the 'nls' USE flag is activated or not. There was some changes to the control-center-1.4.0.5-r1 ebuild, on September the 24th... "make package multilib-strict aware"... Maybe this or some other changes made it work... (I don't know why the ebuild revision version was not bumped... :/ It's been more than three years this revision was created and there has been quite a few corrections already... Is this from some Gentoo ebuild policy?) Here is my new emerge info, if others still have the problem (having emerge sync past the 24th): ################################################################ $ emerge info Portage 2.0.51.22-r2 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.3.6, glibc-2.3.5-r1, 2.6.12-gentoo-r9 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.12-gentoo-r9 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 ccache version 2.3 [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/alias /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.proxad.net/mirrors/ftp.gentoo.org/ ftp://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/gentoo/ http://gentoo.mirror.sdv.fr http://mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/gentoo/ http://ftp.easynet.nl/mirror/gentoo/" LANG="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ALL="en_US.UTF-8" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X a52 aac acpi alsa apache2 apm arts audiofile avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo bzlib cdr cjk clibpdf crypt ctype cups curl dba dbx dga directfb divx4linux dvd dvdr eds emboss encode exif fam fbcon ffmpeg flac flash foomaticdb fortran freewnn ftp gd gdbm gif gmp gnome gnutls gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hal iconv imagemagick imlib innodb ipv6 java jikes jpeg junit kde kdeenablefinal kerberos krb4 ldap libg++ libwww m17n-lib mad mailwrapper matroska mbox memlimit mhash mikmod mime ming mmx mng motif mozilla mp3 mpeg mysql ncurses nls nptl odbc ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pcre pdflib perl php pic png posix ppds python qt quicktime readline ruby samba sasl scanner sdl session simplexml sndfile soap sockets socks5 speex spell spl sse ssl svg svga tcltk tcpd theora tidy tiff tokenizer truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb vcd vhosts vorbis win32codecs wmf xine xml xml2 xmms xpm xprint xsl xv xvid zlib video_cards_radeon userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS ################################################################

Seems like it's linked to the LINGUAS defined, as it works when not defined...
Yes! Confirmed - unset LINGUAS in /etc/make.conf and control-center does build correctly, even with "NLS" set. Strange... I've seen no other build with this problem...
i ran into this problem tonight, and committed a new(fixed) build: control-center-1.4.0.5-r2.ebuild Could you guys please test w/o doing the hack of unsetting LINGUAS? Thanks!

Hi John, Yep, -r2 works just fine even with LINGUAS="en_GB" Cheers!
